Discover your future in publishing

At Cambridge University Press, we believe in developing future talent and unlocking the potential of our apprentices.

What can you expect?

Here at the Press there is a diverse range of roles for our apprentices; in Communications, Customer Services, HR, Marketing, Project Management, Sales and more. In joining us, you will broaden your skills whilst gaining first-hand experience of the publishing industry.

An apprenticeship can be a great alternative to university. Our apprentices are highly valued for bringing unique skills, and a fresh, innovative approach. You'll be working alongside colleagues and a recognised training provider, and will get the time and support you need to unlock your full potential. You will earn while you learn, and be part of a wider cohort of apprentices, benefiting from training opportunities together.

About you

You will be enthusiastic and passionate. You know that it is important to have a flexible attitude and be open to change. You care about attention to detail and you understand that your decisions matter. You are a good team player and you are happy to work independently.

You can relate to our six behaviours, which play a fundamental part in the culture here at Cambridge University Press: collaborative, decisive, empowering, innovative, responsible, responsive. You'll find more information about our behaviours here.

When does the next Apprenticeship programme open for applications?
There are rolling vacancies throughout the year, but we expect to announce a range of opportunities during the spring, with interviews taking place in July 2018.
How does the application process work?
There is an online application, an open morning and an interview. The open morning will be a chance to find out more about Cambridge University Press before you arrive for your interview the same week. The closing date for online applications will be early July and the open morning and interviews will be held mid-July.
If my application is successful, when do I start?
If your application is successful, the start date will be in August 2018.
Are there any entry requirements?
Most roles would require candidates to be educated to A Level or equivalent.
How long does an apprenticeship take to complete?
The apprenticeship will typically take between 12–18 months, depending on the apprenticeship and level.
What qualifications will I receive during my apprenticeship?
The new Government apprenticeship standards are nationally recognised. Our August 2017 cohort of apprentices are currently working towards the Business Administrator Level 3 standard. In 2018 we will also be offering opportunities to apply for Publishing Assistant apprenticeships (Level 3).

Individuals can expect to have ongoing discussions with their line manager, about future career goals and their potential within the organisation.
What will happen at the end of my apprenticeship?
Typically apprentices will transition into a role within the company at the end of their apprenticeship.

What will I be paid?
The starting salary for an entry level apprenticeship is c. £13,700. This rises mid-way through the apprenticeship based on performance, and again on completion of the apprenticeship.
